Brown Sugar Steamed Cake


Another favourite chinese steamed cake which uses brown sugar from asian store are also delightable to eat and savour besides the traditional chinese steamed cake.It is easy to make as you steam it for about 25 minutes in a wok. These brown sugar steamed cakes are sold in the night market near my old house back in my hometown are the best snacks for kids any age and even adults love these sweet cakes....I have a recipe from one of my aunt's and I had changed a little especially the amount of sugar and it is not too sweet for all of us who are watching our waistlines.....lol...(I have also replaced the brown sugar to Demerera sugar for a different taste)




Brown Sugar Steamed Cake 
Ingredients : 
8 oz plain flour 
1 tsp baking powder 
5 oz  brown Demerera sugar

3 eggs 
5 fl oz water 


Method: 
Line a 9 inch round baking tin with some parchment paper at the bottom.
Beat the eggs and sugar together till combined for about 3 minutes. Then add the water and mix well. Fold in the flour mixture and mix till combined. Pour it into the baking tin and steam in a steamer or wok over high heat for 25 minutes till a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack before cutting to serve.
