Homemade Crusty Burger Buns



I had made these burger buns for my family as we forgot to buy our burger buns for dinner one night and it turned out great as I just used the  normal whole wheat dough recipe and just sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top of the buns after brushing the buns with some milk.....here is the different version of my burger buns....bake them 5 minutes more to have a crusty crust buns......


Homemade Crusty Burger Buns 
Ingredients: 
3 cups unbleached flour

3/4 cup whole wheat flour  
10 fl oz warm milk (105 F) 
1/2 tsp salt 
4 oz soft margarine 
2 eggs 
2 tsps sugar 
2 tsps dried active yeast 
1 oz toasted sesame seeds 
1 tsp milk - for brushing 


Method : 
First warm the milk in the microwave for 1 minute. Then add the sugar and dried yeast into the milk and stir to mix well till dissolve. Let it rest for 10 minutes till foamy. Add the margarine and beaten eggs into the mixture with the flour. Mix with hands till combined and it forms a round ball dough and then knead for about 20 minutes till the dough is smooth. Put the dough in a oiled large bowl and cover with plastic wrap to proof for about 1 hour. Toast some sesame seeds in a non stick pan till light brown and set aside to cool. 
Preheat the oven to 350 F / 180 C.

Gently punch down the dough and then divide the dough into 10 large round balls. Using your hands to roll them into round balls and leave on the baking sheet pan about 2 inches apart. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Brush them with some milk and then sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top of each bun.Bake the buns for 25-30 minutes till crusty and golden brown.
