Greek Turkey Burgers

My son loves to eat burgers and I always try to switch up on the ingredients and recipes of my burgers at home when I make them. This burger is inspired by the dish that we always order at a local greek restaurant which we often go to....it has some greek flavours and we love greek food ....so I put them together to make this lovely and delicious greek turkey burgers ......

Greek Turkey Burgers

16 oz minced turkey
2 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
6 whole wheat burger buns
6 slices monterey jack cheese
6 slices crispy bacon - optional

Method :
Mix together the minced turkey with the spices and salt and black pepper and let it marinade for at least 6 hours or overnight. Leave the minced turkey at room temperature before frying them in a non stick frying pan. Divide the turkey mixture into six equal portions.Shape them into round  circles and then flatten them a little about 1/2 inch thick.
Heat a non stick frying pan on medium heat and add 2 tbsps olive oil. Fry the turkey burgers over medium heat for 10 minutes on each side till it is cooked through. Toast the buns in the oven for 5 minutes. Put the the cheese slices on top of the turkey burgers to melt it a little before serving them on the buns with some light mayonnaise and coleslaw . You can add some crispy bacon in the burgers too if you like....my son loves  bacon in his burger .....
